Citizen Police Academy

Next session: fall 2023

We invite you to participate in our Citizen Police Academy to learn about the Raytown Police Department and how we operate. CPA instructors are law enforcement officers and employees who actually perform the work. This 8-week program is a great way to learn about the various functions of the police department and why officers act in certain ways. We believe that informed, educated residents will help us create a safer community for everyone. If you’ve ever wondered how policing works, how officers are trained, or about crime in our community, then the Citizen Police Academy is for you!

Classes include presentations on use of force, search & seizure, crisis negotiations, crisis intervention, crime analysis, SWAT, public relations, and many others! We also incorporate interactive activities such as role playing exercises, tour of the police station including police vehicles, and the opportunity to participate in a ride along with a Raytown officer.

There is no cost to attend. Classes are held every Wednesday night from 6:15-8:30 pm from September 20th to November 1st.
